not so basic basics

Bryanna

I think we all have an idea of what basics are when it comes to our wardrobe. There are the classic items like a black blazer, white sneakers, a black mini skirt, a pair of medium blue denim jeans, etc. While I believe in having essentials in your closet, especially to make life easier, I do believe there are some “fun” items to have in your wardrobe that add a little personality. Personally, I cannot wear the typical neutrals for every outfit. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that because people have their preferences and honestly, a closet full of neutrals eliminates decision fatigue. I just get bored easily.

There are some items and even some colors I like to keep in rotation. My version of basics that aren’t so basic. For example, my Adidas sambas, they aren’t a white sneakers but they go with everything…I mean everything. A red purse or item of some sort is absolutely a necessity. Creating a wardrobe of basics that are essential for you is the point I’m trying to get at here. Everyone is different and that is what should be kept in mind when executing one’s personal style.

Here’s a list of some not so basic basics I believe in and I’ve linked some options:
